Spell Numbers 1-100 In Thai Words
To write and remember the correct spelling of Thai numbers from 1 to 100 you better learn the language rules for writing numbers into Thai words.
The numbers from 10 to 1,000,000 are formed with the words of the powers of ten. The one becomes 'et' when it follows a power of ten. The numbers 20 to 29 begin with 'yi sip'.
In colloquial speech, the beginning of 21-29 can be shortened from 'yi sip' to 'yip'. Therefore, you can also hear 'yip et', 'yip song'.
The hundreds are made by combining 'roi' with tens and ones. For example, two hundred thirty-two (232) 'song roi sam sip song'. The words 'roi', 'phan', 'muen', and 'saen' should be used with a prefix number ('nueng' is optional), so that two hundred and ten is 'song roi sip' and one hundred is either 'roi' or 'nueng roi'.
