Spell Numbers 1-100 In Portuguese Words
To write and remember the correct spelling of Portuguese numbers from 1 to 100 you better learn the language rules for writing numbers into Portuguese words.
Numbers from 1 to 10 are unique words that should be remembered. Between 21 and 30, Portuguese numbers are formed by placing the word 'vinte' before the last digit.
Numbers from 30 and up to a thousand are formed by using the tens designation ('trinta' for thirty) and connecting the one's digit with the word 'e'.
In Portuguese, the word 'e' has to be more frequent, in front of the tens and in front of the ones (in other words, between hundreds and tens and between tens and ones). 'E' is also in front of the tens when there are thousands but not hundreds.
For larger numbers, where all digits are present and no digit is a zero 'e' is between all digits, except between thousands, hundreds, millions and hundreds of thousands. After the millions and the thousands, so in the places where you could set thousands separator, a comma is written and no 'e' is spoken. The numbers 1, 2 and 200 - 900 also have female forms.
